I ask this question because I have been doing it for two years. So, if you only use it to develop open source projects, device drivers, MVS extensions, or for educational purposes, you can use it. Otherwise, a company can use it for free for up to 5 simultaneous developers, more than that, and you need to get a professional or enterprise license. I have done my due diligence and read the following licensing agreements for both products, and there seems to be nothing to prevent small businesses from using these products to make commercial products such as websites, etc. Remember that we do not redistribute any of the components themselves, we only use Visual Studio as an IDE and we could very well switch to another free software like SharpDevelop. SharpDevelop is entirely written in C# and consists of about twenty components that integrate into the application. The source code editor component is known as AvalonEdit and can be used by other applications.
